Swimming Hole, Lynn Creek

by Ben Reeves

Donated by the Artist and Nicholas Metivier Gallery

Ben Reeves, Swimming Hole, Lynn Creek, 2026, oil and acrylic on canvas, 52 x 68 inch. Courtesy of Ben Reeves and Nicholas Metivier Gallery.

Ben Reeves is a celebrated Canadian painter whose richly textured works blur the line between memory and imagination. Inspired by the landscapes and moments of leisure on the West Coast, he builds compositions with bold, sculptural layers of paint creating surfaces that are as striking up close as they are from afar. His shimmering colour palette and expressive brushwork give familiar activities a fresh, almost magical quality. Collected by major museums and exhibited around the world, Reeves brings a powerful, contemporary voice to painting that is both accessible and deeply captivating. Reeves’ works are held in numerous collections including the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, National Gallery of Canada, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
